Aashayein starts with the prospect of a brilliant film, but fails largely because of paper-thin plot and unimaginative writing. The story of a compulsive gambler, Aashayein is a confused mishmash of many messages, not hard enough to beat you. While he tries to live his remaining days in peace, he sees gloom about the death. This film is a journey of love, was hab and death. You may have noticed John entity all in what he portrayed sorry figure. Actually in the last couple of rolls just forget that you are watching John Abraham, the cool dude Star.

It is certainly a laudable action. Anitha Nair, best remembered for his "The Chaka India's role is fantastic and deserves to have more such challenging roles. In a relatively minor role, manages to play the personal Sehgal, John's girlfriend to impress. Farida Jalal is sweet as usual. Girish Karnad is good and so is Prateeksha Lonkar.

Aashayein is generating much interest, and many of the songs are hummable. The film consists mostly of love songs. It switches genres to an adventurous imagination in the second half with John Abraham whimsical quest to defeat death.
