Pakistan's army chief has ordered an investigation of a video showing the killing of six unarmed men, allegedly by an army firing squad. It shows a group of men in army uniforms that draws six blindfolded civilians in a line, and then shoot them. The video which apparently was shot with a cell phone, was shown on a website several weeks ago.
The video authenticity could not be confirmed. Pakistan's military said last week had been fabricated. One video clips on the site Intelligence Group website showed men with rifles and wearing military uniforms and helmets line up six blindfolded men in long robes, hands apparently tied behind his back. Human rights and the issue of extrajudicial killings have been part of our ongoing conversation ... with Pakistan, "said Crowley.
He warned however that this may be an attempt by militants to slander the army. The two clips that seem to have been concerned with two mobile phones were distributed to jihadist forums 23 September 2010, "it added. Militants disguised as soldiers have carried out attacks on civilians in the past," he said.
