India Thrash China 94-0

India beat China 94-0 in the first of the HSBC Asian Five Nations Rugby Tournament in Delhi University grounds. The hosts went to 44-0 at half time and continued in the same direction in the second half.

India now play Philippines in the finals Saturday. Philippines beat Thailand 53-33 in the second match of the day. If India could get past the Philippines, they will be promoted to first division.

India, ranked 84, was quick to get off blocks. They took two early penalties and dominated the eighty minutes the battle. The 51-ranked Chinese team, with most of its players from the People's Liberation Army base in Guangzhou.

Kayrus Unwala, Rohaan Sethna and Parvinder Singh scored two tries each for Gautam-day, Pritom Roy, Sandeep Singh and Puneet Krishnamoorty scored one each. Sethna was the stand out player in an all-round team effort, and he also scored penalties.

"We played a great match, and stuck to our strategy. All the players played a team game and we were well prepared. For our next match we will cut our mistakes and we will have a good chance of winning the tournament," captain Nasser Hussain said.
