Pratibha Patil Approves President's Rule For Jharkhand

President Pratibha Patil Tuesday approved President's rule in Jharkhand, a day after the governor sent his report to the center instead of Shibu Soren in front of a confidence vote in the Assembly.

Earlier Tuesday, recommended the Union Government to the President to impose central rule in Jharkhand.The government at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has decided to recommend to the president to keep the state Assembly in suspended animation and impose central rule.

Jharkhand Governor MOH Farooq had sent his report to the center on Monday after Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave up efforts to form a government.The BJP took the decision after Søren voted against the reduction in motion sponsored by the opposition in Lok Sabha on 27 . April.

Soren government was reduced to a minority on May 24, 1918 when the BJP MLAs and the Janata Dal ( (JDU) and two withdrew support to it. The JMM, with 18 MLAs and supported by seven other legislators, lacked the necessary 42 of the 82-member House.

Congress, with a force of 14, and its allies JVM (P) with 11 members, said that it had to stake claim to form government.
