Michael Douglas will undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy after doctors discovered a cancerous tumor in his throat. The legendary actor, best known as the vicious corporate raider Gordon Gekko in “Wall Street,” is expected to make a full recovery, according to his rep. “I am very optimistic,” Douglas, 65, said in a statement. Douglas is married to screen siren Catherine Zeta-Jones . Together the couple have two children, as well as Michael’s adult son, Cameron, from a previous marriage. The two-time Oscar nominee, 65, will under go eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy and says in a statement he's "optimistic" about a full recovery. Douglass is married to Catherine-Zeta Jones and will next be seen as his famous character of Gordon Gekko in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Douglas himself is being positive about his battle with the disease. The husband of Catherine Zeta-Jones said in a statement, "I am very optimistic."



Larynx cancers are usually related to smoking and heavy drinking, Robert Haddad of the head and neck cancer program at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute explained to USA Today. Haddad further mentioned that cancers around the tonsils are often caused by a virus called HPV, which also causes cervical cancers. He also stated doctors typically don't use the term throat cancer to describe tumors of the esophagus. The Academy Award-winning actor's treatment is scheduled to last
eight weeks. The 65-year-old Douglas says he expects to make a full recovery. He told People magazine in a statement Monday he's "very optimistic." His publicist's assistant, Eli Barach, confirmed his condition to The Associated Press. The actor is outside the United States, publicist Allen Burry Douglas and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, purchased a house on the island of Bermuda nearly a decade ago, and Zeta-Jones said they planned to raise their two children there.

Douglas won an Oscar for "Wall Street" and appears this fall in the sequel, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps."He's played significant roles for a number of years in the business. Douglas and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, purchased a house on
the island of Bermuda nearly a decade ago, and Zeta-Jones. On whether or not the treatment will affect Douglas' work schedule has not yet been revealed. He is currently promoting his new movie "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps", which will be opened in U.S. theaters on September 24. He is also set to star opposite Ewan McGregor, Channing Tatum and Antonio Banderas in upcoming thriller film "Haywire".
