One of the best women’s skating champion of the year 1995 Nicole Bobek has been sentenced to a five year probation period due to her involvement in the role in a crystal methamphetamine ring. Nicole Bobek who is just 32 years old has been found guilty in the distribution of methamphetamine on Monday when she was in front of the judge in the court. Nicole Bobek had been found involved in a huge network of people who used to distribute this life damaging drug to many people. The group of these people sold more than ten thousand dollars of methamphetamine drug every week and they had a leader who supervised and managed them and fortunately he had been caught recently by the police as well.

Nicole Bobek tried to convince the judge with her choking voice that she will not so that offence again in the New Jersey Court but she had been given the five years sentence of probation which will be her punishment for the next five years. The 32-year-old pleaded guilty in June to a charge of conspiring to distribute crystal meth. She was among 28 people accused last year of running a network that allegedly distributed 000 worth of methamphetamine per week. She was also ordered to serve 250 hours of community service and pay a, 500 fine, plus additional court expenses. Bobek won the U.S. figure skating title in 1995. But her disappointing 17th-place finish at the 1998 Winter Olympics took a psychological toll on her, according to her lawyer, Sam DeLuca.

Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Lisa Ledoux argued for a sentence of a year in jail, saying Bobek was no innocent victim and was not a minor player in the drug ring. Superior Court Judge Kevin Callahan noted he had received letters on Bobek’s behalf from former Olympic athletes, including JoJo Starbuck, and even rock ‘n’ roll musicians he didn’t name. Callahan warned Bobek that she was at a dangerous crossroads and that a single parole violation or failed drug test could land her in prison for at least five years. Today former U.S figure skating champion Nicole Bobek was sentenced to 5 years of probation after pleading guilty to drug charges. In addition Bobek must also serve 250 hours of community service and pay a $2,500 fine, and additional court expenses. Although she won a title in 95′ in the 98′ Olympics she came in at 17th place which affected her greatly psychologically and in the end led her into the drug world.
