2010 - Roy jones Jr vs Bernard Hopkins to fight - ESPN

Sixteen years once they first met Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins will by last fight back.

But with both men now accepted his 40th birthday and no major battle shocking whether they finally nailed down the subtle agreement, signed an agreement Friday for a light heavyweight fight sometime in the first quarter of 2010, both sides told ESPN.com.

However, the agreement is contingent on Jones' first win ett December 2nd match in Australia beside the Australian cruiser weight Danny Green, who has been planned for some months.

"Sixteen years ago they fought with each other and went on and made history in their own way," said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, Hopkins' advertiser. "Each one is measured today as the ring royalty. That's why I think if two guys want to fight it will be to determine who would be king of the ring. We went back and forth for so long, but we finally pulled.

Also as part of their agreement, Hopkins is allowed to take an provisional fight before the end of the year. In an interview on Schaefer's downtown Los Angeles office, said Hopkins, who has not fight since easily outpointing Kelly Pavlik 11 months ago, was inclined to fight a tune-up fight. Schaefer said he was working on a plan under which Hopkins will fight in his hometown of Philadelphia beside an opponent to be resolute on the same day as Jones' struggles in Australia.

Under the agreement, Jones and Hopkins settled to share the revenue 50-50, which had always been a stick point. If it's a knockout or a TKO, winner of the match will be 60 percent and the loser 40 percent.

Before either man was a star, they faced a vacant middleweight title, 22 May 1993 by Jones will win a clear unanimous decision.
