Mumbai Port Trust|Gas Leak In Mumbai Port Trust

There have been a chlorine gas leak that Mumbai Port Trust. The incident happened at about 3:30 on the morning of 14 July 2010th it has affected nearly 1959 people from the nearby Lal Bahadur Shastri Nautical Institute and a police station in Siwri area. Ministry of Shipping has sought a detailed report MPT.



Seven of them admitted in the ICU, but their condition is said to be stable. No deaths are reported as per Deputy Chairman, Mumbai Port Trust.The affected people were evacuated, and has been admitted to three hospitals Mumbai - Port Trust Hospital, JJ Hospital and KEM Hospital.

At least 50 people became ill in Mumbai this morning, following leak of suspected chlorine gas in a scrap yard in Mumbai Port Trust premises in Sewri.

Sixty people have been rushed to two hospitals in Mumbai after chlorine gas leaked from a cylinder in a shipping container parked in Haji Badar area.
Mumbai Fire Brigade chief officer Uday Tatkare said the leak occurred in Sewri area of the city owned by the Mumbai Port Trust.

Rahul Asthana, Chairman of the Mumbai Port Trust, Customs AFP that some operators are using this import empty chlorine cylinders and fill them for reuse.

The source of the leak was traced to a Scrapyard in MBT facilities, next to the LBS College, Sewri, south-central Mumbai .. Those in authority should take responsibility. Such incidents should not happn again, "said one man hospitalized JJ.

The gas leak was discovered around 4 in the morning when people started complaining of burning eyes, heavy breathing and vomiting feeling.
