A.R. Rahman’s song for Common Wealth Games Anthem
Rahman is the much anticipated theme tune to the CWG - 'JiYo Utho Badho Jeeto' - when it's released, was showered with criticism from all sides at all. The good news is that tweaking and layering is done. Even CWG committee did not spare it. Rahman was then asked to be cast on the court. He has also made a point to tell everyone that Rahman's songs takes time to catch it. He went all out to defend his work when he exclaimed that it was a hymn, not a Bollywood song. To give the hymn a fresher perspective, Rahman now added to the team along with some international instruments that make it more peppy, short and tight.
Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman's song to the next Coommon wealth games has not had the expected accolades it has received a lukewarm response. Drummer Ranjit Barot also played a role in Light up the song, adding livelier beats. Several of the dancers were reportedly not happy with the original track. He has also worked on the 11-minute track originally composed by Rahman for a classical dance performance.
The video for the theme song "Oh Yaaro, Yeh India Bula Liya," will take a week to get ready. Rahman was given the responsibility to create an anthem for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi in October 2010. Rahman himself promised that his song would be better than Shakira's "Waka Waka", the official song for the FIFA World Cup 2010.
