Spain on high alert after bombs

Thursday two Civil Guard officers were killed when a car bomb exploded outside a base to leave the city Palma Nova on the island of Mallorca.

Another car barrage Wednesday blast that destroyed much of the police barracks in the northern city of Burgos, and left more than 50 people slightly injured.



The attacks coincide with the 50th anniversary of ETA's founders.They have also come at a time when the police property stretched because of the setting of the holiday period.

The two civil guards were killed in Palma Nova - Carlos Sáenz de Tejada Garcia and Diego Salvatierra Lesaun - had been in a patrol car parked outside the El foc barracks when a bomb planted under the explosion, security officials said.
