Applications (in English or Hindi) are invited by 31 August 2009 in the prescribed proforma invoice from persons with disabilities to award National Scholarships for the year 2009-10 for pursuing technical and professional courses from recognized institutions. The most important feature of the scheme are: -
• 500 national scholarships are awarded to qualified students with disabilities for the year 2009-10 for pursuing technical and professional courses from recognized institutions.
• Support can be given to a computer with editing software for blind / deaf graduate unemployment and post-graduate students are professional courses and software available for cerebral palsied students.
• stipend to the host or Rs.1000/-pm and Rs.700 / - pm for day scholars studying in professional courses for the exam and the higher level and Rs.700 / - pm to host the second and Rs.400 / - pm for day scholars pursue Diploma / Certificate level professional.
Course fee reimbursed up to the ceiling of Rs.10, 000 / - per year qualified students with disabilities must submit their applications for scholarship in the prescribed form duly signed and approved by the head of the institution where they study, to achieve, complete in all respects to : National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC), Red Cross Bhawan, Sector-12, Faridabad-121007 on or before 31-08-2009.
Eligibility:
(1) Financial assistance will be available for Indian students with at least 40% disabled as certified by definition under Disabilities Act 1995.
(2) Financial assistance will be given to pursue post-Matric/Post-Secondary technical and professional courses including Ph.D & M. Phil from reputable institutions. But for students with disabilities of cerebral palsy, mental retardation, multiple disabilities and profound or severe hearing impairment, the minimum educational qualifications to be Class VIII pass and scholarship will be awarded to them for conducting training, technical, vocational or professional courses.
(3)-scholarship will be awarded to a student to pursue the only course.
(4) Financial assistance may be given to a computer with editing software for blind / deaf graduate and doctoral students working professional courses and software available for cerebral palsied students.
(5) Continuation / renewal of the grant for next year will depend on the complete course in previous years with a minimum of 45 per cent for professional courses and 40% for other courses.
(6) Assistance under this scheme is not intended for Post-Matric/Post Secondary technical / vocational education with maturity less than one year.
(7) A fellowship under this scheme will not be holding the second scholarship / stipends. If there already are other scholarships / stipends awarded, the student is obliged to exercise their choice of scholarship that he / she intends to use and inform the contracting companies for the same authority.
(8) Monthly family income of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs. 15000 / - from all sources. Family income includes the income of parents / guardian.
