President Barack Obama stands by his assertion that the police had no need to arrest a Harvard scholar who tries to come into their own home.

Obama said in an interview with ABC that he has "extraordinary circumstances" for the challenges and problems that law enforcement faces each day in accordance with the work. But while he said he does not think it was necessary to arrest Henry Louis Gates Jr.

Obama said that "cooler heads should have prevailed" in the incident. But he did not make his first statement that he believed that police had "acted stupidly" and said that such events "will be enhanced in ways that will probably not make much sense."
