President Barack Obama has arrived in Ghana on his first trip to sub-Saharan Africa since taking office.

He country soon after 9 pm local time, and met a group of dignitaries, led by President John Atta Mills. An ethnic African group danced and beat drums for Obama's arrival.

After traveling to Russia and Italy for a meeting of major industrial powers, Obama make final stop of his overseas trip in Ghana on Africa's west coast.

Obama will make a speech to legislators, where guided tours and a oceanfront fort once used to ship slaves to the Americas.

Following bilateral meetings and Breakfast, Obama will be first lady Michelle Obama at an event focusing on the mother's health.

The President will address Ghana's Parliament.

After the First Family will head out of the capital for a tour of Cape Coast Castle before returning for a departure ceremony and a fly back to Washington.
