Nation pays tribute to Rajiv Gandhi on his 19th death anniversary

The Nation Friday paid tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 19th s death anniversary. Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21 May 1991, at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu in a poll campaign.

President Pratibha Patil, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the late leader's wife and UPA president Sonia Gandhi were among the first to pay floral tributes to the late leader at his memorial 'Veer Bhumi' here.

A reluctant prime minister in 1984, Rajiv Congress Party led by Indira Gandhi was killed by his own security guards. He is recognized for bringing information and technology revolution in the country.

Voluntary organizations, , social and cultural organizations to organize their own programmers through lectures, presentations, discussions, musical and recitation programmers and cultural features.

Mass education programmers considered to highlight the harmful effects of violence and terrorism. Anti-terrorism/anti-violence laws will be made in all public offices, public undertakings and other public institutions.
