Nehru Trophy Boat Race

57 edition of the Kerala's famous Nehru Trophy snake boat race will be the presence of Punnamada lake in Alappuzha Saturday 8 August 2009. Congress president Sonia Gandhi will be the chief guests of event.Others celebrities that will be composed of EU ministers Ambika soni, Kumari Selja, Shashi Tharoor. The incident, which is named after India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru commemorates former Prime Minister Nehru's visit to the state in 1952.

A team of women associated with the nine residents will battle in the 57th version of the famous snake boat race on Punnamada Lake. It is said that Nehru, excited by the action of the rowers, jumped into a snake boat ignores the security preparations and protocol.Nehru donated a silver trophy to the rowers who is an imitation of a snake boat placed on a three abacus with an inscription and his signature.
