Samsung Launches New LED TVs in India

South Korean electronics major Samsung, which seeks to exploit the changing consumer behavior and first-mover advantage in the Indian LED-TV market, is targeting a four-fold increase in sales of next-generation TV next year.

"We expect 10 percent of our flat-screen sales in India come from LED TV in the end of this year, which is predictable doubled over the next year," Samsung South West Asia CEO soo Jung Shin said here.

Jung spoke with reporters after the launch of three new LED-TV models in India on the Samsung Experience store here. It was for the first time that Samsung made an international launch of the models for the Indian market.
LED-TV contributed about five percent of Samsung's global flat-sale in the country during the first half of this year.

Relatively expensive LED TV is about an inch thick and use LEDs as their main source of light in relation to traditional Fluoroscent cold cathode lamps used in LCD-TV that offers customers better image quality with lower energy consumption.
With the launch of three new models, Samsung has increased its portfolio of LED TV seven in India, which is priced in the range Rs 69,990 to Rs 3,00,000 with a screen size of between 32 and 55 inches.
