Peter Lenz

Peter Lenz has died at the age of 13 after suffering damage was "traumatic". The incident had taken place during the warm up for the race, where Lenz allegedly fell off his bike over, and then was run over by Xavier Zayat. Witnesses have said that the boy did not die before he was on his way to the hospital. The teen motorcyclist was already a veteran of the sport and had won several races throughout his short career.

He had a bright career ahead of him in racing, and this event will likely force the speedway to revise some of its rules for teenagers racing on the track. It was the first death in action as Indy Car driver Tony Trench was killed in testing in October 2003. Lenz, in Vancouver, Washington, had been racing since he was five.
