Stephanie Miller Comes Out

The Progressive radio talk show host Stephanie Miller revealed on Friday that she is a lesbian. The 48-year-old former comedienne came out of the closet of her nationally syndicated show on Friday, The Stephanie Miller Show. This morning, Miller told her Twitter fans that "There may be a lot of crying in the next hour. Stick around for the next hour. Mama's got something to tell you." Country star Chely Wright, who also recently came out of the closet, was a guest on the show Friday. Miller joked with Wright that she "[gets] a toaster oven for recruiting me." Miller has always been publicly supportive of gay rights. Her father was attorney and congressman, William Miller, who ran with Barry Goldwater in the 1964 presidential election.



Stephanie Miller surprised her listeners today by revealing she is gay. she works in L.A. radio Dial Global where she hosts The Stephanie Miller Show. Miller has often joked about her “future husbands” but it seems it was all a big joke after all! The radio host, who is ranked 38th by Talkers magazine has never been married. Stephanie Miller, liberal pundit and radio host of the Stephanie Miller Show, had a surprise statement for her fans this morning: "I am a gay woman." While Miller had been out to her friends, family, and co-workers for years, she's remained in the closet professionally. Miller says she couldn't discuss issues like DOMA, DADT, and Prop 8 “authentically," and didn't know how she could do that without also disclosing that she's gay. She credited lesbian country singer Chely Wright -- who was a guest on her show -- with inspiring her to come out.

Miller is the daughter of the late attorney and congressman William Miller, who was Barry Goldwater’s running mate in the 1964 presidential election. Miller grew up in a conservative Republican home and refers to herself as a washed up stand-up comic. For a short period of time had a television show on MSNBC, also called The Stephanie Miller Show.
